Privacy and personal data policy

Your stories are personal. Protecting your privacy is essential to us.

Account data

  • name,
  • email address,
  • authentication data.

User content

  • audio recordings,
  • interview transcripts,
  • written stories,
  • photographs,
  • location data (in the Travel Diary).

Technical data

  • IP address,
  • device and browser information,
  • system and security logs.

3. Purposes of processing

Personal data is processed for the purpose of:

  • providing and operating the Service,
  • generating the outputs the user requests,
  • improving the quality and reliability of the Service,
  • communicating with users and providing support,
  • meeting legal obligations.

4. Legal basis for processing

Processing is based on:

  • performance of a contract,
  • legitimate interests,
  • the user's consent (where required, e.g. marketing).

5. Voice recordings and sensitive content

Voice recordings and life stories are considered highly sensitive personal data.

This data:

  • is protected by enhanced technical and organizational measures,
  • is never used for marketing without explicit consent.

6. Data processors and third parties

Data may be processed by trusted service providers, including:

  • cloud infrastructure providers based in the EU,
  • speech-to-text and AI processing providers (OpenAI API),
  • map and location service providers (Mapbox) for Travel Diary features.

7. International data transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, appropriate legal safeguards are applied.

8. Data retention

Personal data is retained:

  • for the duration of the user account,
  • as required by applicable law,
  • in accordance with internal retention policies.

9. Rights of data subjects

Users have the right to:

  • access their personal data,
  • correct inaccurate data,
  • erase data,
  • data portability,
  • restrict or object to processing.
